Two Wacoms and a canvas board

This one is based on a photo of my nephew when he was 15. He's got a sucker in his mouth, though it sort of looks like a thermometer in the photo. I created this with oil pastel crayons and pencil on a canvas board, doing a lot of smearing of the crayons with my fingers. Doesn't allow for a lot of small detail!

This is another take on the same photo, in this case done on the Wacom.

And this is in honor of Cavafy's poem "Ionian," which is one of several in which he suggests that the "old" gods still move among us.

Two chunkies, and a pony for the great-nieces

Two "portraits"

Another attempt at a portrait of one of my nieces:

Based on a newspaper photograph (which I didn't have in front of me as I drew). I added the Texas flag, and I think I got the colors reversed?

Two days' worth

As the note says, this one is inspired by seeing an older guy at the bookstore who just looked a little out of balance, butt-wise?

Just a scene:

Another one of my out-of-kilter autos:

Another animal for the great-nieces:

My summer "PJ"s, lying on the bedspread:

Yikes! This yogi's got no clothes on. (Of course it's hot in India. Maybe he needs my summer pjs.)

Another threesome

Here's a look at my "tool":

Mostly I use the "dry media brushes" in Photoshop Elements, but this is primarily "wet media":

Four (though two are just variations of each other)

I drew the outline chair first, then "colored" it in:

Inspired by the movies

Last night Susan and I watched The 300 and I did a couple of drawings inspired by scenes in the movie. This first one is based on a scene in which one of the Spartan boys/youths was shown way over on the left side of the screen with the sun shining from behind.

And this one was Susan's idea: from a scene in which an oracle was being "possessed" by the gods.

And this one is just a modern-day drawing of taking a shower:

Three today

This one's self-explanatory, I suppose.

A skinny guy doing push-ups.

This is a new version of the one I call "Pathetique", playing off the idea of a guy getting older (look for the white hair on the chest) and feeling kind of glum about it.
